Theatre

I began directing in the theatre.

I’ve directed a number of critically-acclaimed productions for my own company Rattlestick.

Romeo and Juliet

“up there with the best… some of the direction and acting is sublime… heart-stopping moments… Go!”   BBC Online

“fine adaptation… an eye opener”   Express and Star

“Lesbian Romeo wins over city audience… Kate Hilder is wonderful as the often hysterical Romeo, Bobby Bancroft is a sultry Juliet and Denise Gilfoyle one of the best vicars I have seen”               Birmingham Evening Mail

Projects with other companies include working as Assistant Director to Adrian Jackson on a co-production of Timon of Athens with Cardboard Citizens and the RSC for the Complete Works Festival, directing new writing projects at MAC, and directing a short project at the Young Vic through the Genesis Directors Network.

I’ve directed classics and new writing, working in traditional theatre spaces and on site-specific projects.

I’ve also directed a number of community theatre projects with funding from the Arts Council, National Lottery, and local authorities.

And I’ve been invited to work as a guest director at drama schools and universities.
